This room screen divider is a one-of-a kind piece that took weeks to complete. Supporting cross rods are encased in felted 'pockets', so the piece is finished on both sides. No bars show on the 'back' side. Each panel was made completely by hand.
All the sheep locks were hand cleaned and teased apart into a big, fluffy pile before laying out onto the work surface. The tree design is cut from Merino prefelt, so the image would have a crisp edge. The tree design was sketched from and based on an actual arbutus tree growing right across the street from my home.
This piece was juried into the 2017 Sidney Fine Arts Show, held in Sidney, B.C..
Also, the screen was included in the international publication, "Worldwide Colours of Felt", published Spring 2016 in the Netherlands.
Hand felted rare breed Cotswold sheep locks (raised on Pender Island), Merino prefelt for the arbutus tree design. Custom-built fir room screen frame, varathaned. 5 feet wide by 6 feet high. $975.00
